Dennoch bietet die 2007 in Tokio prasentierte Studle auf 3,90 Metern Lange Platz fur vier Personen. Beim 1/X nutzt Toyota die Vorteile der Plug-ln-Hybridtechnologie weiter aus, indem der zum System gehorende Verbrennungsmotor durch die grbBere elektrische Kapazitat des Antriebs minimiert wird. So geniigt dem Konzeptfahrzeug ein 500 Kubikzentimeter groBer Zweizylinder als Erganzung zum Elektromotor. Der Verbrennungsmotor kann zudem wahlweise mit Benzin oder mit Bio-Ethanol betrieben werden. Die Antriebseinheit ist platzsparend unter den Rucksitzen untergebracht.

High-performance sports cars and alternative drives don’t appear to be a perfect match at first glance. But the Japanese manufacturer Toyota shows a possible approach with the concept car FT-HS. The sports-car study was presented at the beginning of 2007 in Detroit. Its abbreviation stands for the unwieldy name of Future Toyota Hybrid Sports and represents a 2+2-seater with an especially sporty body design. The coupe was created at the Toyota Design Center in Newport Beach. California. With this study. Toyota demonstrates that the hybrid drive, which has already been applied successfully in series production, can definitely also be transferred to a sports car. The coupe is driven by a 3.5-liter V-six-cylin-der that is installed in the front of the vehicle and drives the rear wheels. Together with an electric motor, it provides a system capacity of 400 HP. The exclusive character of the study is underscored by the 21 -inch tires that are made of carbon.

Entworfen wurde das Coupe im kalifornischen Toyota-Design-Center Newport Beach. Toyota zeigt mit der Studie, dass sich der bereits in Serie bewahrte Hybridantrieb durchaus auch auf einen Sportwagen ubertragen lasst. Angetrieben wird das Coupe durch einen 3,5 Liter groBen V-Sechs-zylinder, der in der Front des Fahrzeugs eingebaut ist und die Hinterrader antreibt. Gemeinsam mit einem Elektromotor steht eine Systemleistung von 400 PS zur Verfugung. Den exklusiven Charakter der Studie unter-streichen die 21 Zoll groRen Rader, die aus Carbon gefertigt sind.

Although its appearance is as inconspicuous as a good civil servant, the Toyota Prius enjoys a special position: It is the uncrowned king of hybrid vehicles—and an example (or all the others who rely on the power of two hearts. The Prius already came onto the market in 1997 in its first generation and was also offered outside of Japan starting in 2000. Although the competition didn’t take it seriously for a long time, the Prius set a trend. And it created the basis for its sales success: Toyota now offers the hybrid technology in several production series and has sold more than one million hybrid cars during the past ten years. According to its own statements, Toyota has reduced the C02 emissions by 3.5 million tons as a result. Since 2003. the second generation of Prius has been on the market with a body shape that has a distinctly more pleasing and modern look in comparison to its predecessor. With its electric motor, the sedan can be driven in the city with electric drive. Energy is recovered during braking and coasting. Toyota is now working on a plug-in variation of the Prius, which can be charged at an outlet. When driven just electrically, this version reaches a top speed of 60 mph and has a range 8 miles.

Rein elektrisch bewegt, erreicht diese Version eine Spitzengeschwindigkeit von 100 km/h und schafft eine Strecke von rund 13 Kilometern.
